Dr. David Samadi is a celebrity in the medical industry. He was practiced at New York City’s Lennox Hill Hospital for a number of years as the chairman of urology and as the chief of robotic surgery. His surgeries involve minimally invasive surgeries, including laparoscopic robotic radical prostatectomy.
It was in Iran that Dr. David Samadi was born. When the Iranian Revolution occurred he and his brother fled that country because they were Persian Jewish. He went to school in both London and Belgium before emigrating to America. Once in America they both completed high school and he went on to attend Stony Brook University where he earned a degree in biochemistry. He then attended the Stony Brook School of Medicine in order to acquire his M.D. It was at Montefiore Medical Center that he was trained as a postgraduate urologist.
After finishing his postgraduate studies, Dr. David Samadi studied proctology at two universities, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center. Finally, he attended Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and finished his oncology fellowship in 2001. A year later he traveled to France where he learned how to perform robotic radical prostatectomy where he was taught by Professor Claude Abbou.
As an innovator in the industry, Dr. David Samadi developed what he called the Samadi Modified Advanced Robotic Treatment, or SMART. He has since performed this type of surgery on more than 6,000 men who have prostate cancer. This type of surgery replaced open surgery and so results in far few complications for his patients.
